Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Orion StarSeeker 130mm GoTo Reflector TelescopeCustomer Review: Great scope! Summary: 5 Stars
Scope arrive much quicker than expected. Extremely fast shipping, shipped within hours of the purchase. The scope is packed very well. It is double boxed and the actual tube is wrapped in heavy buble wrap and is inside a heavy carton of its own. The scope was very easy to setup. The GOTO system works well, but it takes time to familiarize oneself with all the features it provides. A couple times outside with it seems to solve this. It does take time to align the finder with the actual scope's view. The manual could do a little better job describing the process, but again, trial and error solves this issue. Even better would have been an example diagram. So far, the scopes views are fantastic. I've only looked at Jupiter and it's moons, as well as, the moon's surface. All the images I viewed are very sharp and clear. The two supplied eyepieces are fine. The 25mm ep gives a wide field of view, good for viewing the four moons of Jupiter, and larger objects. The 9mm eyepiece gives much higher magnification, with it I could easily see banding on Jupiter and highly detailed objects of the moon's surface. I have yet to use the scope for nebulea, looking forward to that soon. The GOTO feature really tracks viewable object well, especially when using the 9mm eyepiece. You'll be glad to have this feature. It also makes for finding objects quickly. When its cold outside, it pays to spend time looking at the object, rather than spending time searching for it. I find it helps to educate you about the night sky. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase.
