Description of Orion ShortTube 80mm Refractor Telescope
The ShortTube 80 satisfies the need for an easy-to-use, portable telescope that delivers terrific views in daylight or starlight. This model is our original ST80, with a fully coated 80mm achromatic objective lens and standard (non-dovetail) 1/4"-20 mounting plate for attachment to a tripod. The ST80's 400mm focal length offers up gorgeously spacious vistas of Milky Way star fields and nebulas. It reveals breathtaking detail on the lunar surface, and you'll easily resolve Saturn's rings. And it is so compact (just 15-1/2" long) you can take it hiking or on an airplane as carry-on. Standard accessories include a 6x26 correct-image finder scope, 45-deg correct-image diagonal, and 25mm (16x) and 10mm (40x) Sirius Plossl eyepieces (1.25"). Weighs 3 lbs., 13 oz.
