Customer Review: Some quality issues, but a good product
Summary: 4 Stars
The first unit I received broke after 20 minutes of use. The on/off button fell off (in the dark!) and now you can't turn it on without poking a pencil or something in the hole where the button used to be. For breaking so quickly I initially decided to give it one star (but see update below). Other observations:
1. The button was kind of hard to operate. You had to mash it pretty good to turn it on and off. (Maybe that was related to the failure.)
2. I ordered this light to use at night while stargazing. The LED is much brighter than you need for that purpose.
3. The case is metal and seems sturdy.
[UPDATE] I contacted Orion Telescopes (the vendor) by e-mail to report the failure of the unit I received. The next day I received a reply apologizing for the problem and promising to immediately send a replacement, free of charge. I received the replacement this week and it works as advertised. The button is not hard to press and it has not broken. I really like the size and sturdy feel of this unit. It is so lightweight I intend to hang it on a lanyard and wear it around my neck while stargazing. The only real complaint I still have is that the light is pretty bright to night-adapted eyes. But otherwise I am quite happy with it. I am revising my review upward to 4 stars. Thanks to Orion technical support for some great customer service!
