Customer Review: Premium Eyepiece at a Good Price

I'm a very active amateur astronomer and have had this eyepiece for a number of years. I had a number of other people including a telescope dealer look through this and comment on how sharp and contrasty the image looked. Unlike less expensive eyepieces, this works well in "fast" scopes, mine is a f/4.8. Stars are pinpoints across the field of view. This eyepiece is manufactured in Japan by Vixen - a very high quality company. This is very close in quality to a TeleVue 22mm Panoptic, but costs substantially less money.
I also own the 8mm which is equally fine. Both highly recommended.
Edit: I sold this eyepiece and missed it so much that I bought another one. Even though they are discontinued, you can find one used.

For deep-sky observing, you can't beat our Lanthanum Superwide series with their 65-deg apparent field of view and undistorted flat fields. These state-of-the art eight-element eyepieces feature multi-coated lenses and ample 20mm eye relief, enough for eyeglass wearers to take in the entire field of view. A single rare-earth Lanthanum lens has been incorporated into one of the eight elements to eliminate visual aberrations and increase image sharpness. Other features include rubber grip ring, internal filter threads, and soft rubber eyeguards. Each fits both 1.25" and 2" focusers or diagonals, except for the 42mm, which fits 2" only.Accessories
